This wire balustrade system is very popular for flat or angled (stair) runs and where you need to run wire between metal posts (usually pre-existing), timber posts or a combination of the two. The saddles provide a pivot point for the jaw/swage bottlescrew and fork terminal end fittings. So even if your saddles aren't fixed perfectly straight (heaven forbid), the run will adjust and level out and each run will be visually consistent.

We often find DIYers are taking on wire balustrade installation for the first time - and this is a simple to install, flexible system applicable for a wire range of situations. Whether you have a deck you're encircling with wire balustrade, staircases to cover, or both, you can use this kit. The kit comes standard with stainless self tapping screws for timber posts (does not suit metal). However you can choose all stainless rivets instead for your metal posts. Various rivet lengths are available to suit different wall thickness metal posts.

It is suitable for 3.2mm wire including 7x7, 1x19 and 7x19 constructions. Because 1x19 wire rope has a higher tensile strength and is less flexible than 7x7 and 7x19, it is very commonly used with stainless swage fittings such as with this kit. 1x19 is smoother and more aesthetically pleasing than 7x7 or 7x19. It also has a higher tensile strength, with the least stretch. If not immediately, this becomes a consideration over time as the wire stretches under tension or other factors such as expansion and contraction of your timber posts.

All in stainless steel 316, these fittings require hydraulic swaging/crimping, such as with our light duty hydraulic swaging tool. Also available for hire is our 30T hydraulic swage press (Melbourne only).

Also recommended is the bottlescrew spanner to simply and easily adjust the tensioners.
